Y-STR Testing

Our clients often use this test to prove a relationship to the paternal line when the alleged father is not available for testing or to validate biological paternal relationships. The results of a Y-STR test, in conjunction with other evidence (e.g. family records, family history, other living relatives, etc.), can be used to infer paternity.

The Y chromosome is passed from father to son, staying practically unchanged for generations. That is why we can use the Y chromosome to track paternal lineage (to see if two or more males are related through their fathers).
