Maternity testing is useful in cases where an individual has been adopted or become separated from his/her mother at an early age. It is also used in some in vitro fertilization cases. In a maternity test, a child and alleged mother are tested. We encourage, but do not require the participation of the father; it is not required to provide conclusive results.
