Advanced Ancestry DNA Analysis

After you complete the AncestryByDNA™ 2.5 test, further analysis can be performed if your ancestry is primarily European. If your results meet the following criteria, you may be eligible for either of the following two tests, EurasianDNA™ 1.0 and EuropeanDNA™ 2.0, used to identify potential ancestry in more detail.

Criteria for Advanced DNA Analysis
Any person who has taken AncestryByDNA™2.5 and meets all of the following criteria may be eligible for Advanced DNA Analysis:

• European score of at least 50%
• East Asian score of less than 40%
• Sub-Saharan African score of less than 15%
• Native American score of less than 15%

EurasianDNA™ 1.0 - This DNA test analyzes markers in all 22 autosomes to identify your ancestry as one of four subgroups from the European population. These subgroups include:

• Northern European
• Mediterranean
• Middle Eastern
• South Asian

To upgrade your previous AncestryByDNA™ results and conduct further ancestry study using EurasianDNA™ 1.0, the fee is $210.

EuropeanDNA™ 2.0 - This DNA test further defines the European subgroups into even more specific populations, including:

• Southeastern European (Armenia, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Romania, and Bulgaria)
• Iberian (Spain and Portugal)
• Basque (Basque country along the Pyrenees Mountains between Spain and France)
• Continental European (Scandinavia, including Sweden and Norway)
• Northern European (Ireland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Hungary, and Switzerland)

To upgrade previous AncestryByDNA™ 2.5 results and conduct further ancestry study using EuropeanDNA™ 2.0, the fee is $550.

Comparing EurasianDNA 1.0 and EuropeanDNA 2.0
There are important differences between the EuropeanDNA 2.0 and EurasianDNA 1.0 tests. EurasianDNA 1.0 assumes a Eurasian population model – that is, that your ancestors came from Continental Europe, the Middle East and/or South Asia. EuropeanDNA 2.0 assumes a primarily continental European model – that is, that your ancestors mostly came from Europe (Southeast, Continental, Northeast etc.). You will note that EuropeanDNA 2.0 considers a larger set of more closely related populations. This is a more difficult problem to solve, and for this reason, EuropeanDNA 2.0 uses a much larger number of markers in your DNA (1,349 versus 333 for EurasianDNA 1.0).
